Foundations I: Understanding the Story

When: Tuesdays, 7:00–9:30 p.m.

Class Size: 4–12 students
Tuition: $195 for 4 classes

Next class: September 8, 15, 22 and 29

Foundations I introduces beginning actors to the fundamentals of the actor’s craft and gives them a process they can begin to rely on.

Students learn how to understand a script, identify the circumstances of the story, pursue clear objectives, discover actions, listen and respond truthfully, and begin making specific choices.

Through exercises, improvisation, script work and simple scenes, students develop imagination, confidence, focus and a stronger connection to their scene partners.

The goal is not simply to “perform.” It is to begin understanding how an actor works.

Recommended: Students complete three Foundations I classes before moving to the next level.
